The universe has reached a state of symmetric, divine, and perfect balance & order heretofore imagined only by the loftiest thinkers of the late Renaissance. That is right — the Art School Girls of Doom are now slumming it on YouTube.

Episode I

Please click on the image above for the first (shaky sound quality) episode,
featuring their stuffed kitty Morrissey and the Manhattan club scene.

Episode II

Please click on the image above for the second episode,
which showcases a misguided escape to the beach.

Episode III

Please click on the image above for the third, final, and BEST
episode, highlighting the sacrifices gals will make for the perfect bra.

Three perfect episodes, and then ... nothing. Liquid Television continued for years, spawning Beavis & Butthead and Aeon Flux, among others, but not a gasp has been heard from the Art School Girls of Doom since 1991. I like to think they fell into a giant K-hole and emerged in a parallel universe where hair is always big, fishnets are always perfectly distressed, twerps in Bimmers are still totally uncool, and the whole flannel shirts fiasco never happened. Stephen Sprouse is with them. Kiss, kiss.

i would think you'd get at LEAST a million comments on this !!!!!

i had forgotten about ASGOD for YEARS and then when you mentioned it the other day, it made me miss OLD (and good!) mtv and all the kick ass stuff they used to show (ie: the state).

kind of makes you wonder whatever happened to them, doesn't it ???

i used to own some video (video magazine type thing? actually i still have it at my parents house somewheres) hosted by Alex Winter that had THE funniest stuff on it like ANCIENT nyc club nights out and performance art AND this genius Butthole Surfers movie called Texas Family BBQ. well, lo and behold i found that butthole surfers thing youtube - YAY!

ALSO - I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT ART SCHOOL GIRLS OF DOOOOM!!!!! i used to LOVE it! seeing it now - isn't that Codi Ravioli??? or however you spell it. funnny. you tube will be the death of me. i literally sit around TRYING to think of things i used to watch like decades ago. ok, so username is oola - add me, so we can share favorites. hi, nerrrrrdz!
Mar. 15th, 2006 09:38 pm (UTC)
Yes! Cody Ravioli, although she was billed as Codie Field on the show's credits. It took me a few hours to figure that out — I guess I could have just waited for you.

Do you think the gals could be out-of-drag as the straight boy characters? The shorter one is Mathew Eliot Mitler aka Matt Mitler. Oh, but now I am looking again and I can't quite picture him as Gina Varla Vettro. (Vetro? Vitro?) Or maybe I can. Anyway, I was SOOOO happy to find those Liquid TV torrents. It's amazing what you can dig up these days.
