purloined setlist: artifact for i.s.w.

On the back I have written (in soft pencil):

June 1st, 1993
suede
9:30 Club
Washington, D.C.
Brett & Bernard
opened with
'The Next Life'

It was their first-ever show in the U.S., and it was indescribably wonderful. They had been my favorite band for about seven months then. Paul & S____ & I were pressed against the stage, right in front of Brett. Great fun.

Trust an archivist to preserve the truly important ephemera!
(I keep it with my autographed Swans poster.)

i'd always daydreamed about 'he's dead' + 'she's not dead' in the same set without regarding it as an actual possibility, for some reason. what were they wearing?

back to butler vs. butler.

Let's see. They were all simply dressed. I think B.B. was wearing jeans & a black T-shirt. Brett was wearing black pants of some sort and a black ribbed sweater with almost a boat-neck and too-long sleeves. And he held my hand! Awwww.
